    Description

    Registered Nurse - National Youth Forensic Service

    We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Kenepuru Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment, providing specialized assessment and treatment for youth offenders with mental health problems.

    About the Role

    This permanent part-time position (0.93FTE/37.2 hours per week) involves working as part of a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to provide 24-hour assessment and care to our rangatahi (young people). You will be responsible for overseeing the unregulated workforce and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

    Nga Taiohi is a national secure youth forensic 10-bed unit that provides treatment for Rangatahi with severe health and/or alcohol and other drugs (AOD) issues who have offended or are involved in New Zealand's justice system.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide 24-hour assessment and care to rangatahi within a bi-cultural model of care
    • Work collaboratively as part of the MDT to develop and implement individualized care plans
    • Oversight of the unregulated workforce
    • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care and achieve equitable outcomes for Māori

    Requirements:

    • Previous experience in youth and/or forensic nursing is preferred
    • Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered Nurse
    • Demonstrates understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and commitment to applying them in the nursing role
    • A personal commitment to ongoing learning and development, including attainment/maintenance of PDRP
    • Current Practising Certificate
