    About Us:


    We are a trendy Turkish and Mediterranean food cafe and restaurant in Upper Hutt urgently seeking an experienced and qualified Chef to be part of its exciting team.

    The chef will be part of our exciting culinary team dedicated to enthusing our loyal customers.
    Prior proven experience in a similar role is a must.
    The successful candidate will be generously rewarded for their contribution to the business.

    Position Overview:
    Chef responsibilities include studying recipes, setting up menus and preparing high-quality dishes.
    You should be able to delegate tasks to kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner.

    Main Duties & Responsibilities:
    Conceive, develop and prepare a range of new and exciting Turkish and Mediterranean dishes.
    Develop and implement novel food presentation styles.

    Lead and participate in experimenting with new cooking techniques with a focus on maintaining the high nutritional value of food ingredients.

    Develop low-calorie and cholesterol menu options to cater to customers with dietary requirements.
    Maintain standards for food storage, rotation, quality and appearance.
    Provide training to the new and junior and other kitchen staff.
    Ensure efficient operation of the kitchen at all times.
    Ensure compliance with applicable health codes and regulations.
    Schedule staff and assist in human resources processes as needed.
    Demonstrate excellent work ethics and inspire team culture and cohesion.
    Establish maintenance and cleaning schedules for equipment, storage, and work areas.
    Provide an unforgettable dining experience to customers.


    Requirements:
    At least three years of verifiable work experience.


    Other Skills and Attributes:
    Demonstrated knowledge of culinary techniques and practices
    Understanding of menu and recipe development techniques
    Strong leadership abilities and excellent communication skills
    Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure
    Ongoing awareness of culinary trends
    Understanding of health and sanitation laws
    Excellent knife-handling skills
    Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)
