    Description

    Tūāpapa Community Manager

On behalf of my client Te Manu Toroa, I am seeking an experienced and values-driven leader to take up the role of Tūāpapa Community Manager.

    About Te Manu Toroa

Te Manu Toroa provides kaupapa Māori health and social services across Tauranga Moana, Mount Maunganui, Katikati and Te Puke. Our vision is that Māori in the Western Bay of Plenty are healthy, confident, empowered and contributing to their community.

    About the Role

The Tūāpapa Community Manager is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the delivery of community-based health and social services. The role requires both strategic oversight and operational leadership, ensuring that the indigenous Tūāpapa model of care is fully embedded across services.

    This includes:

    • Providing visible leadership to service managers and kaimahi.
    • Driving whānau-centred, high-quality, integrated service delivery.
    • Leading workforce development and succession planning.
    • Maintaining quality systems, compliance, and service improvement.
    • Building partnerships with iwi, hapū, marae, and community agencies.
    • Contributing to the senior leadership team and organisational strategy.

    About You

    You will bring:

    • A relevant qualification and/or significant experience in health or community leadership.
    • Demonstrated success in managing people, services, and budgets.
    • Strong knowledge of tikanga Māori frameworks and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice.
    • Excellent communication, relationship management, and problem-solving skills.
    • A passion for driving equity and whānau wellbeing outcomes.

    Why this Role?

This is a unique opportunity to lead with purpose. You will join a respected kaupapa Māori organisation, contribute to the wellbeing of whānau across Tauranga Moana, and be part of a team shaping the future of hauora in the Western Bay of Plenty.

    Location: Based in Tauranga

    How to Apply

This recruitment process is being managed by Chris Longman of EMA on behalf of Te Manu Toroa. Please apply via SEEK or for any queries please contact:

Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, and shortlisted candidates may be invited to interview prior to the advertised closing date.
