WHAT YOU'LL DO:

As a Data Analyst at NZME, your role is critical for driving digital revenue growth and enhancing user engagement.

Utilising NZME's extensive digital audience and online data, you'll provide expert data analysis, modelling, data-driven products, dashboards, and insights to help guide decision-making for our marketing, sales, and editorial teams.


HOW YOU'LL DO IT:


Data Collection and Analysis:


  • Collect and analyse data from various sources to provide insights to NZME teams for informed decisionmaking
  • Identify patterns, trends, and insights that contribute to digital revenue growth and improved audience targeting
  • Write SQL queries to combine and manipulate data in our data warehouse to provide meaningful and actionable data to the stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain data models to facilitate data analysis and reporting.

Reporting and Development:


  • Create and maintain data visualisations and dashboards to provide actionable insights to stakeholders
  • Build, optimise and maintain our data driven audiences for our sales teams
  • Develop and maintain new data products and APIs to drive digital revenue and improve user engagement.

Strategy and Decision Making:


  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to develop and implement datadriven strategies that drive revenue growth, improve user engagement, and enhance the customer experience
  • Communicate data insights and findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic decisions and initiatives.

Continuous Improvement:


  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of datadriven initiatives and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to data
  • Proactively identify and address data quality issues or inconsistencies.

ABOUT YOU:


Background and Competencies:


  • Tertiary qualified statistics, applied mathematics, computer or data science.
  • 3+ years of data and web analytics experience preferred.
  • Digital media and advertising background or experience preferred.


  • Strong SQL skills

  • Bigquery or other data warehouse preferred.
  • Experience with statistical programming languages advantageous.
  • A critical thinker with an analytical and curious mindset with the ability to explain complex problems and solutions to business users.
  • Experience with BI products such as Google Data Studio and Power BI required.
  • Experience with Google Tag Manager or other tag management platforms is advantageous.
  • Experience with data transformation tools such as Dataform or DBT is advantageous.
  • Experience with the Google Cloud Platform preferred.
  • You'll be an effective communicator and will keep managers and colleagues updated on all necessary information.
  • Knowledge of agile working principles will be advantageous.
