Experience and motivated Plastics Maintenance Engineer wanted for busy Plastics Manufacturing Company in Avondale

They are well established in New Zealand and run very successful manufacturing operation, that continues to grow year on year.


Their division offers value-added solutions to their customers, and with the teams technical, design and new product development capabilities, they are focused on providing their customers a product range manufactured for their specific requirements.


Great opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to grow their career in the plastics industry and work with a high performing and collaborative team.


About Role:

Be responsible for continuing upkeep of the plant and equipment to ensure maximum production output and minimum downtime and directly responsible for resolving breakages and or equipment failures as quickly as possible

  • Plastics molding machine maintenance, including hydraulic and electrical
  • Maintenance and repair of automated assembly machines
  • All general factory auxiliary equipment maintenance;
- boilers, heat exchangers, robots, etc.

  • Manage the preventative maintenance of all Plant equipment cooling towers, air compressors.
  • Manage and order the inventory of spare parts for all the plant equipment.
  • Manage the Building Warrant of Fitness general building maintenance and certificates, fire regulation needs and general utilities maintenance i.e., power, lighting etc.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting of production machinery.
  • Contribute to enhancing overall productivity identifying and making recommendations on any manufacturing/production initiatives, continually looking at improving both plant and processes.
  • Provide Support to Operations manager for all 5S initiatives and SOP training.
  • Maintaining Health and Safety Best Practices and ensure safety checks are completed for all plant equipment.

About You:


  • Trade Certfitter and turner, Mechatronics or NZCE Mechanical Engineering Diploma, or other formal maintenance qualifications.
  • 3+ years' experience working in the plastics industry.
  • Experience working with injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and ISO requirements
  • Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes.
  • Computersavvy
  • Outstanding organizational and coordination abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
