    Description

    We are a well established and growing company and are excited to add to our existing food technology team.

    Florentines Patisserie manufactures a large range of cakes and desserts for the local and export market.

    We are looking for someone who is driven and eager to develop their career. Working closely with the Senior Food Technologist, you will be proactive, assertive and have the knowledge to deliver outstanding performance.

    We offer great hours with no weekend work.

    Duties and responsibilities include:

    • Provide technical guidance and support to the Operations Team ensuring quality and food safety issues are identified, assessed, and managed effectively.
    • Work on New Product Development projects
    • Factory Trials using reports to record temperature settings, process constraints, ingredient suitability, projected waste/giveaway, sensory and visual attributes.
    • Support the development of new ingredients, products, processes, and guidelines.
    • Conduct investigations on customer complaints, identify corrective actions and monitor for effectiveness.
    • Maintain GMP, foreign object and pest control management, coordinate product and environmental testing as well as gluten detection testing.
    • Ensure all specifications, PIFs, export declarations and approvals are managed effectively.
    • Work with the teams on internal and external audits.
    • Daily quality checks.
    • Monitor our quality and food safety program and its documentation.
    • Collaborate with the production team to deliver outstanding performance metrics.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and coordinate sharing information and best practices.
    • Comply with all workplace Health and Safety and Food Safety regulations.

    You will have

    • Good relationship skills to build effective unity across teams.
    • Ability to work to tight deadlines
    • Excellent organisational skills
    • A good communicator, both written and verbal to varied stakeholders
    • Solid technical background with at least 2-3 years industry experience.
    • Hold a Bachelor of Food Technology/Science or similar science – based qualification.
    • Have excellent computer skills.
    • Be comfortable working autonomously but also at ease contributing to the team.
