    Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Manager
  • Marine to lead our team of dedicated Heath & Safety professionals on the
    _Devonport Naval Base_
    .

About the role


Reporting into the Senior HSEQ Manager Marine, you will provide effective management and leadership to the NZ Marine HSEQ department and to provide practical, hands-on HSEQ systems management and support to the Marine Business in order to assist in the facilitation of the highest practical standards of safety performance and regulatory requirements.


You will champion the HSEQ management systems and Babcock culture, through assisting the Senior HSEQ Manager Marine in the development of safety promotion, education and training tailored to the NZ Marine operation.

You will also provide resourcing guidance to the Senior HSEQ Manager Marine in relation to the New Zealand Marine Business HSEQ Department structure, programs and initiatives.


Key responsibilities

  • Ensure alignment with Babcock Australasia HSEQ Management Systems.
  • Implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the HSEQ management systems to the NZ Marine operations derived from the overarching Australasia policies and identify initiatives to maintain and improve standards
  • Cooperate, coach and mentor internal stakeholders to ensure HSEQ responsibilities are understood and delivered
  • Provide resourcing guidance to the Senior HSEQ Manager Marine in relation to the HSEQ Department structure, programs, and initiatives through consultation with the Marine Business.
  • Champion the HSEQ management systems and Babcock culture, through assisting the Senior HSEQ Manager in the development of safety promotion, education and training tailored to the NZ Marine Operation
  • Maintain and coordinate activity relating to relevant HSEQ certifications including 9001, 14001 and 45001.

About you
You will be e a highly experienced leader managing multi-disciplinary teams and providing safety management services within high risk or high reliability industries
- i.e. Aviation, Marine, Oil & Gas, Mining, Construction or Engineering.

You will be experienced in conducting operational HSEQ audits, leading accident/ incident investigations and conducting trend analysis as well as facilitation of operational risk assessments


Required Qualifications

  • Vocational or Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety or Quality Management (or other relevant field) (Essential)
  • Qualification as a ISO9001, 14001, 45001 or Integrated Management System Lead Auditor (Essential)
  • Registered or Certified NZISM and HASANZ (Desirable)

Ideal Skills & Competencies

  • At least 10 years' experience in a HSEQ role (at least 5 years in HSEQ or other management roles)
  • You will have managed and lead multidisciplinary teams
  • You will have experience in the development of audit programs and schedules and conducting operational HSEQ audits,
  • Experience leading accident/ incident investigations and conducting trend analysis
  • Experience in the conduct and facilitation of operational risk assessments
