    Description

    The opportunity with this role is for a person to come in and learn all aspects of the sawmilling side of the operation and end up as a well-rounded, skilled, and competent sawmiller capable of doing any of the roles within the mill.


    The process of converting a round log covered in bark into precisely cut square and rectangular boards of differing sizes, in a continuous process, is known as sawmilling.

    The sawmill converts plantation grown radiata pine logs into sawn timber to be used in multiple final uses such as houses, landscaping, and general construction.

    Job Description

    • Assist with sawmill clean up.
    Sawdust, wood chip, broken boards that miss chutes, conveyors and augers cleaned up on a regular basis.

    Clean and tidy work site.

    • Other sundry duties on site as instructed by the Sawmill Manager
    • Always act with respect, honesty, and integrity. Hours of Work – Normal sawmill hours are 6.00am to approximately 4.30pm Monday to Friday inclusive.
    The whole team helps with daily clean up (paid time). Training – On the job training provided.

    No experience is necessary.

    Requires a willingness to learn and a desire to stay in the role long term.
