The Parliamentary Catering Team is dedicated to showcasing New Zealand's premium hospitality services & products; and delivering memorable experiences at Parliament.

The team manages a number of food and beverage venues within the Parliamentary precinct; each offering a different and unique experience; these include the Copperfields café, Pickwick's bar, and New Zealand's fine dining cuisine restaurant - Bellamys by Logan Brown.

A further function of the team is providing catering and hospitality services for the numerous functions that are held on the Parliamentary precinct.

About the role


The Café Supervisor Copperfields is responsible for the day to day operations and supervision of staff within the Copperfields café outlet.

The role ensures the smooth running of the front of house operations, ensuring a high standard of customer service is provided at all times and café operational standard and procedures are carried out and maintained.

No two days will ever be the same however here's a couple of other things you'll get involved with:

  • Train and supervise Café and other hospitality staff to ensure world class customer service experiences are delivered at all times
  • Oversee shift operations to ensure food hygiene & safety and under legislative requirements such as Responsible Service of Alcohol are complied with at all times
  • Manage resources to ensure service standards are maintained at all times
  • Nurture friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost our reputation
  • Maintain updated records of daily, weekly and monthly revenues and expenses
  • Manage the point of sale and cash management system
  • Assist with marketing via different channels and in house promotions
  • Ensure all café areas are clean and tidy

  • Setting clear goals and objectives aligned to success and creating accountability and ownership within your team
  • Proactively leading the team during service on the cafe floor, ensuring all café areas are performing effectively, the customer experience is memorable & the team are motivated
  • Observing the cafe around compliance, customer experience, team training and ensure any shortfalls are highlighted and understood by the whole team and acting fast to rectify them
  • Planning and organising a café operations and staff within a shift work environment covering a breakfast, lunch and dinner operating model

The appointing salary range for this role is $57,361 to $63,332 per annum.

Appointments will be based on skills and experience (please note, the full salary range extends beyond this to allow for tenure progression).
