Truck Stops (NZ) Ltd is part of the NZ Sime Darby group and is New Zealand's largest supplier of commercial vehicle parts and workshop services to the Road Transport Industry.

Our network of 17 branches throughout the country specialises in the repair and maintenance of heavy commercial vehicles with franchises including Hino, Mack, Renault and Volvo.


The Position


Reporting to the Group Culture and People Development Manager, Sime Darby Motor Group, and based in Auckland, the key focus of this position is to ensure that our 130+ diesel technicians receive the training and knowledge required to continue to provide outstanding after sales service nationwide.

The position will also be responsible for apprentice recruitment and development, ensuring the apprentices complete the MITO 4 years Heavy Diesel Trade Certificate resulting in a pipe line of future diesel technicians and will also oversee the apprentice mentoring program, ensuring the apprentices get support and assistance to help them complete their apprenticeship.


Skills and Experience


The successful applicant will have had experience as a technical trainer within the Heavy Transport industry, have managed a small team, have an automotive trade qualification, and preferably have a certificate in learning and development.

The person will have a good understanding of the Heavy Transport industry and an understanding of all or some of the franchise product mentioned above.

It goes without saying that the successful applicant will be computer literate and competent in the Microsoft suite of products, have had experience with an eLearning system and development of eLearning modules.

The successful applicant will be confident in group presentations, able to travel nationally, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, have had experience with developing budgets and business plans and has a passion for developing people.
