About the role


Reporting to the Financial Controller New Zealand, this role is responsible for directing the general accounting functions and implementing accounting practices to ensure an accurate reflection of the business' financial situation.


We are seeking a self-driven & result oriented individual who is well-suited to a career as an assistant accountants' role and is detail-oriented and organized.


Some of the key responsibilities:


  • Full responsibility for balance sheet and P&L for our agency accounts.
  • Completing monthly general ledger reconciliations, for both companies.
  • Completing and processing general ledger journals, for both the companies.
  • Preparation of all monthend workbooks for the Agency accounts and providing information to Finance controller to complete month end.
  • Calculating agency profit share.
  • Reconciling the system outputs to our business reporting pack.
  • Reconciling the claims portion of the monthly data.
  • Preparing the monthly management fees.
  • Preparing monthly work books which are used for monthend.
  • Trade commission calculations.
  • Government levies.
  • Other financial reporting.
  • Preparation of Daily banking.
  • Preparing the bimonthly GST and FBT returns.
  • Assisting in the insurance's renewals process, and associated matters.
  • Assisting in the preparation of budget information for Annual Plans and Long-Term Plans (LTP).
  • Assisting in the insurance's renewals process, and associated matters.
  • Liaising with internal and external auditors to assist with coordinating the Managing Agency / Protecta Audit.
  • Direct support to the Finance controller.
  • Completing both monthend and Quarter end within the setout timetable.
  • Good accounting knowledge and understanding of Accounting concepts
  • Ability to manage numerous deadlines and prioritise workload
  • Strong problemsolving skills to analyse the data, search for inconsistencies, reconcile inconsistencies and devise solutions to errors
  • Exposure to accounting processes, reconciliation, and client servicing
  • Experience in BFSI
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
