    Enviro NZ Ellerslie

    Description

At Enviro NZ, we've been quietly doing big things. Making Aotearoa more sustainable. Solving real problems. Getting results. We're one of New Zealand's leading environmental services companies, helping households, businesses, and councils turn waste into something more, a resource with potential.

With over 1,200 people, a nationwide network of sites, and strong partnerships with more than 20 councils and half a million customers, we're part of everyday life across the country. In 2023, we brought our teams together under one name, Enviro NZ, to sharpen our focus on circular solutions and a more sustainable future.

The challenge? Not enough people know our story. That's where you come in.

We're looking for a communications leader who can bring that story to life, inside our business and out in the world. Someone who's not afraid to challenge, inspire, and make sure our voice is heard where it counts.

What this role is all about

This is not a caretaker role. You'll set the tone, direction, and energy for how Enviro NZ shows up across New Zealand, from media to industry forums to our own people.

    • Shape the narrative: Help New Zealand see waste differently. as a resource with potential.
    • Be a trusted adviser: Coach and prepare our leaders, including our CEO, to tell bold stories with confidence.
    • Lead from the front: Manage issues and crises with calm authority while keeping our reputation strong.
    • Engage our people: Make sure our 1,600+ people are connected to our purpose and inspired by the difference they make every day.
    • Measure impact: Use data and insight to sharpen campaigns, channels, and reach.

    Who we're looking for

You're more than a communicator, you're a strategist, influencer, and storyteller.

    • Proven experience leading communications at a senior level, you've shaped reputation, handled media, and advised executives.
    • Exceptional writing and editing skills across platforms, with an instinct for what cuts through.
    • Confident in the spotlight, whether that's fronting the media, steering a crisis, or leading your team.
    • Comfortable with digital tools (SharePoint, email marketing systems, social media) and data-driven measurement.
    • Bonus: you know your way around ESG or sustainability comms.

What matters most is your impact, not just how many years you've got on your CV, but what you've done with them.

    Why Enviro NZ?

We've been getting on with the mahi. Now we need someone who can make sure people see it, hear it, and connect with it.

    • You'll be the one to showcase the projects, people, and ideas that are quietly changing the game.
    • You'll work in a collaborative team where your voice is heard and your ideas land.
    • You'll have scope to challenge, innovate, and create real impact, not just tick the boxes.

    Ready to make some noise?

This isn't just a job. It's your chance to take Enviro NZ's story and make some noise. If you're ready to lead, influence, and make a real impact, apply now.
