The Medical Programme Directorate (MPD) sits within the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences, as a coordinating unit critical to the success of the MBChB Programme.

It is responsible for managing relevant curriculum, policy, compliance, assessment and operational processes to deliver teaching across three Schools within the Faculty, clinical attachments at eight clinical campuses across the North Island, as well as multiple remote placements with General Practices / primary healthcare providers.


This new Programme Delivery Manager role replaces the previous Group Services Manager role within the directorate and has been elevated to provide the leadership needed to navigate the opportunities ahead of us, as the programme grows and changes over the next few years, with the renewed, national focus on health-sector reform.


This new role continues to provide professional staff leadership for a diverse set of roles within the broader teaching administration function within the team, as well as financial management and delivery of strategic operational activities within the wider Medical Programme Directorate.

In conjunction with the Academic Head and Deputy Head of Programme, it will maintain oversight of the core curriculum objectives, ensuring sufficient processes and governance are in place to provide comprehensive student support as well as maintain ongoing accreditation compliance for the MBChB programme.

This role will provide advice and guidance to ensure comprehensive and stable delivery of the medical programme across all supporting schools and service divisions, which will require developing and maintaining strong relationships across a significant number of internal and external stakeholders.


Key accountabilities for this position include:

  • Managing and co-ordinating the provision of professional services, to support the medical programme delivery.
  • Leading the continuous improvement of systems and processes to drive consistency, performance and quality.
  • Working with the Academic Head, provide a strong overview of curriculum, feeding into annual planning and strategic operational planning development and delivery.
  • Develop strategies and manage initiatives to monitor and support key transitions in the student lifecycle across all phases of the programme, with the objective of maximising the success rate of students and enhancing the students' experience.
  • Provide a key connecting role between a multitude of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring strong communication and information sharing across the complex model of stakeholders and service providers required to deliver the medical programme.
  • Work in partnership with both internal and external partners (e.g. Te Whatu Ora, Australian Medical Council, Medical Council New Zealand) to ensure student and staff compliance with relevant UoA and partner policies, and ensuring that the services provided meet agreed service levels and deadlines.
  • Provide strong, effective management to staff to ensure they contribute towards the team and faculty strategic goals.
This is a fulltime (37.5 hours per week), permanent role

Remuneration:
$94,900-$117,200 per annum dependent on experience
