    We are a proudly independent, busy small animal practice located in beautiful Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. In the past 3 years, we have taken on 4 new graduates.

    With one graduate now looking to move away and further her experience, we are looking for another motivated, enthusiastic and sociable individual to join our wonderful team.

    £34,500 per annum
    Average 40 hours per week - 4 day working week, 1 in 4 Saturdays, 1 in 14 nights on call
    6 weeks paid annual leave (including Bank Holidays)

    Trained GDP mentor with weekly 1:1 sessions

    About us
    Currently located in an extended Victorian building, we are a team of 12 vets and 14 nurses.

    We have been proudly offering our own out of hours service to our loyal clients and their patients for over 40 years.

    Over the next 5 years, we will be moving to a new, purpose built, state of the art facility, allowing us to cement ourselves as one of the stand out independent small animal practices in south east England.

    Our main site in Henley has 6 consulting rooms, two theatres, a dental suite complete with dental xray, ultrasound, xray, blood gas machine, and separate dog, cat and isolation wards.

    In addition to this we have an endoscope, laser and diathermy.

    We have clinicians skilled in both cardiac and abdominal ultrasound, as well as one of our vets currently pursuing a certificate in soft tissue surgery.

    In addition to this we have a satellite practice 15 minutes away in Twyford.

    Being an approved RCVS Graduate Development Practice, you will have a trained GDP mentor with 1:1 sessions offered weekly to help and guide you through your first year in practice, and beyond.

    With a generous CPD allowance, regular CPD lunches and evenings, and fortnightly practice-wide clinical improvement meetings we are committed to constant clinical development driven by our staff.

    We are an experienced student nurse training practice, with our last 4 students still with us, now as RVNs.
    We are fully committed to supporting each other through the highs and lows of the veterinary industry.

    Our team is full of genuine, caring and passionate individuals with experience ranging from 50 years to 6 months, all of whom are dedicated to providing the highest quality of veterinary care.

    As our current new graduates will attest, you will never be turned away when asking for help or advice Dog walks and lunches spent laughing with colleagues is a daily occurrence, and our annual Christmas party is always a blast.

    About you
    We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and sociable new graduate to join our ever-growing clinical team.

    You will be included in clinical discussions, ward rounds, and conversations about how to improve and move the practice forwards.

    We're hoping to find someone who is not afraid to give their opinion, while communicating and working well within a team.

    We believe being proactive and conscientious will help you get as much out of your first year in practice with us as possible.

    It is essential you are committed to providing outstanding veterinary care to both our patients and our clients.
    About the role

    By joining our team, you will gain a varied and solid grounding in small animal practice, predominantly with dogs and cats, but including experience with rabbits, guinea pigs and the odd reptile A normal working week will include consults, one full operating day per week and a day working in our hospital (managing inpatients and day patients, working up cases and seeing emergencies).

    You will be paired with a more experienced surgeon on your operating days, to build your surgical confidence and allow you to perform new procedures.

    When you feel ready, you will also be added into our out of hours rota (we cover Monday-Friday nights), you will have a more experienced vet second on call for at least the first 2 years.

    Out of hours shifts include being on-site until 10pm, being on-call from home during the night and always having the next day off.

    Henley-on-Thames is famous for the annual Henley Royal Regatta; the most prestigious rowing regatta in the world. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside, with the Chiltern Hills just down the road for walking, cycling and more. We have a train station with a connection to Reading, and therefore London, including Heathrow and Gatwick airports. We also have great links to the M40 and M4.
