  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC;:

Ability to work both autonomously and as a sole charge practitioner;:


  • A good understanding of Aged Residential Care (ARC)
  • compulsory.


Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand, leads the day-to-day running of our health system across New Zealand, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels.

It weaves the functions of the 20 former District Health Boards into its regional divisions and district offices, ensuring continuity of services in the health system.

The Rural Hospitals include Darfield, Ellesmere, Waikari and Oxford.

We are a unique collective of four rural community ARC facilities providing a combination of palliative care, end of life care, respite care and aged residential care within our local communities.

Medical support is readily available from local GP's, Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialists and Older Persons Health Community Gerontology Nurses, we have Allied Health Support available on referral.

We have Registered Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Cooks, Activities Coordinators and Maintenance/Gardeners working as part of our teams.


Darfield Hospital is based in the Darfield township in the Selwyn District and has 11 beds.

Ellesmere Hospital is based in the community of Leeston, in the Selwyn District and has 10 beds.

We are seeking to source and create a talent pool of local and experienced Registered Nurses to work across all hospitals
on both a permanent and casual basis.
