    About the Role

    An experienced mental health registered nurse is sought to join our Specialist Maternal Mental Health service in Wellington. This team works across Wellington, Hutt, and Porirua/Kapiti regions, offering assessment, treatment, and support to pregnant and postnatal clients experiencing significant mental health challenges.

    This role involves working with clients who develop moderate to severe mental health issues during pregnancy or in the 12 months after delivery. You will assess, treat, and intervene with clients experiencing mood, anxiety, or psychotic disorders living in the greater Wellington region.

    The opportunity to develop specialty knowledge and work therapeutically with this client group and their baby and whānau at this motivating time in their lives can be life-changing.

    About You

    To succeed in this role, you will have a mental health background, experience working in the community, and the ability to work therapeutically with clients and their whānau. Some understanding of perinatal period issues, including mother-infant relationship and attachment issues, is required. Additionally:

    • You must be a member of a registered professional body with NZ-recognised health credentials.
    • You should be able to work collaboratively with clients developing therapeutic relationships, managing their mental health disorders with them and their whānau.
    • You will work alongside other healthcare teams and services in the community and hospital to support continuity of care for women.
    • You will identify common acute mental health presentations, including mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, adjustment, and related issues.
    • A driver's license is essential as our work is mobile and includes home visiting.
