Graduate Controls Engineer - Christchurch - January 2024:


The Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Electrical/Controls/ Mechatronic Engineering graduate to join our Christchurch team in January 2024.

The central focus of this opportunity will be to provide you with exposure to various aspects of the automation field, specifically the many principles of engineering design at Scott Technology which will continue to grow technical depth and knowledge within the company.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Converting electrical/control design briefs as supplied into details and working drawings (of the required standard in a timely manner).
  • Converting control functional descriptions and machine timing charts as supplied into software of the required standard in a timely manner.
  • Specifying materials and components constituting part of the equipment designed, always endeavouring to minimise costs.
  • Liaising with the workshop during the construction of any equipment designed to ensure smooth and troublefree manufacturing.
  • Assisting as required with the commissioning of Scott equipment both in the workshop and at the clients' site, this may be onshore or offshore.
  • Assisting in promotional and educational activities this could include but is not limited to assisting with: career fairs, university campus employer presentations, student visits.

You will have:


  • An ability to read detailed electrical schematic diagrams.
  • A relevant Tertiary Qualification
  • An understanding of automated industrial machinery, including basic knowledge of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic control systems.
  • Some experience of robotic / electromechanical control systems (preferred).
