We are looking for four enthusiastic and dedicated students to join us for our Pia Summer Studentship Program.

The position will take place from 20th November 2023 to the end of February 2024 (with a break over our close down period 21st December - 14th January).

Within Te Āo Māori, pia traditionally the first order of learners being initiated in esoteric lore.

Within our modern world, the Pia program represents the space for Pro-active, Interactive Agency, and was established to provide opportunities for fresh minds to explore, collaborate and contribute towards improving Māori Public Health outcomes for whānau Māori in Aotearoa.


About the Organisation


Hāpai Te Hauora is the largest Māori Public Health organisation in Aotearoa and aims to increase opportunities for the communities we serve to enjoy good health and sustain healthy environments.

We do this by providing a strategic focus underpinned by evidence-based research for advancing health and well-being for all. We work regionally and nationally to address health inequities and provide strategic solutions for long-term outcomes.


Your opportunity


Successful applicants will work within one of our high-performing teams and will gain experience and grow skills in Māori Public Health Leadership.

The role will be dynamic and varied and involve working as the conduit between people and policy.

The projects will have a strong grounding in indigenous responses to modern and emerging Public Health issues and will allow for rapid, hands-on growth of your Māori Public health skillset.
