You will be responsible for assisting the Farm Manager with:Planning and management of the herd and dairy operations.
Feed allocation, pasture management and budgeting.
Monitoring animal health, breeding and maintaining records.
Coaching and supervising staff as well as delegating work.
Assisting with milking, fencing and general stock work.
Located 10 minutes from Balclutha, we milk 680 cows using a 50 bail rotary with ACRs and Milk Hub. Dunns is a 270ha effective property. We have modern facilities including good machinery and good farm accommodation. We currently have a 5:2 roster.
Dunns Dairy is part of a the Waitepeka Dairy complex which includes one other dairy farm and a dairy support farm, all in close proximity of one another.
We are looking for someone who is hard working, self-motivated and passionate about dairy farming who is wanting to grow their career and develop leadership skills.
You will also have:
3+ years dairy experience and passion for dairy farming
Strong leadership and commitment to individual and team development
Excellent pasture management and feed planning skills
Eagerness to learn and support the manager in daily work planning
The ability to work proactively in a team environment and be trusted to lead when the Farm Manager is away.
First class attitude to Health and Safety and Animal WelfareRestricted or full driver's licence
