To do this we need people who can share and deliver on our vision to present useful and empowering data geospatially for our district.

_ About the role_
Selwyn District Council are investing in our Digital strategy and improving the digital services we offer to our community.

As part of this, we are investing significantly in our geospatial data to ensure we can give our communities accurate and relevant information.

For example, we are collecting LiDAR data which will be used to build a more accurate digital elevation model for the whole district, enabling us to prepare for events like flooding much better.

We are also looking at 3D mesh modeling and digital twin options around our major urban centres.

Currently, we are working on adding IOT solutions in conjunction with expert vendors to offer more information and service to our communities.

Digital and Information Services is the overarching group where our geospatial team resides.

This team has a fantastic culture and has recently been selected in the top 4 best cultures for the CIO awards nationally.

We have a great learning environment where sharing knowledge and ideas is highly valued. There will be ample opportunities for the development of skills through a broad range of tasks and development opportunities.

Within the Geospatial team, you will be working with a leader and senior analyst who will support and develop your skills to ensure that you are well equipped for the work you would be doing.

You will also be empowered to act on ideas and bring them to realization, giving you a chance to see projects through from beginning to end.

_ About you _

A tertiary degree in an appropriate discipline (ie Geospatial, Geography papers)
Up to 5 years' experience in GIS,
Knowledge, experience and understanding of GIS software.
Ability to interpret and capture data from imagery.
Analysis skills.
Sound knowledge of projections, datums and core datasets.
