You will be supported by a senior Medical Lead and Administration team with flexible rostered time away from clinic to support your administrative functions.


This is an excellent opportunity to use your skills to contribute to the development of a cohesive approach to the delivery of holistic and integrated university health and counselling service.

The role is Full-time Monday to Friday - Rostered between 8am to 5.30pm (no late nights) based at the University of Auckland City campuses.

Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team

University Health and Counselling Service (UHCS) helps students to prevent and overcome personal difficulties relating to their physical and mental wellbeing, and in so doing helps them to achieve their full potential at the University.


There are two distinct arms of the UHCS with primary health care services being delivered by GPs, Nurses and Health Coaches and counselling services by registered counsellors and clinical psychologists.

Both arms of the service have a strong focus on mental health issues, reflecting the student demographic and the pressure of University life.


The service strives for a preventative, wellbeing approach wherever possible, without neglecting the immediate need for medical and psychological interventions.


He kōrero mōu | About you
To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Registered Nurse within New Zealand with a current Practising Certificate
  • Nurse Prescriber certification is desirable but not essential
  • Proven experience leading teams in a clinical setting, with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks.
  • Prior experience in a medical centre is essential, working in a multidisciplinary and diverse health setting.
  • Willing to continually learn and improve
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident, friendly, and approachable.
  • You will ideally hold a current CPR certificate
  • Immunisation and smear taker certificates are desirable but not essential
