The opportunity:


As a Senior Tax Consultant, you will be providing support to ensure that the AIA NZ Group meets all its tax related legal and accounting obligations.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and filing returns for relevant tax types. Calculating tax payments and ensuring that they are paid on time.
  • Calculating and/or reviewing the accuracy and integrity of accounting balances relating to taxation. Preparing reporting templates, tax notes, variance analysis, commentary and supporting reconciliations.
  • Identifying ways to improve processes through automation and efficiency that comply with internal policies and best practice.
  • Providing support to identify tax risk and/or process changes required as a result of projects and initiatives across the business.
  • Assisting with management of the AIA NZ Group's relationship with Inland Revenue and ensuring that all matters are dealt with on a timely basis.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • 3 to 5 years of taxation experience within a similar inhouse tax function or professional services firm. The ability to deal with complex data, systems, products, and tax requirements relevant for the insurance and investment industry. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain a highlevel of accuracy. A highlevel of professional communication, both verbal and written. Initiative, analytical skills, commercial acumen, and good judgment in problem solving and decision making. Strong time management skills and responsiveness to deadlines.
