About the Organisation
Dilworth School was founded in 1906 by the endowment of farmer, businessman and philanthropist, James Dilworth.

Over a century later, his legacy has provided more than 5,000 boys with a life-changing scholarship that includes free tuition, boarding, uniforms, sports fees, and music tuition.

About the Role


Reporting to the Chief Executive, this role will provide financial and commercial leadership in support of the Dilworth Trust Board's mission, goals, and objectives.


Amongst other things, responsibilities include:

  • Strategic and financial planning;
  • Robust financial and risk analysis for the fund and School, bringing an investment mindset, including ensuring commercial and financial robustness across a range of projects in the equity and property portfolios and in the School;
  • Supporting Trust Board governance processes, including supporting the Chief Executive Officer in ensuring strong management and organisation of the Dilworth Board of Trustee meetings;
  • Working effectively with the Board and the Audit and Risk Committee;
  • Fostering a highperformance team environment and supporting the Finance team to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance;
  • Implementing or continuously improving systems and processes to ensure strong financial management and efficient stakeholder reporting;
  • Fostering and delivering a collaborative customer service ethic, providing efficient processes and commercial insights to support the School and the Property teams;
  • Working effectively with internal and external stakeholders through the provision of advice, support and management.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in financial and/or commercial field; senior and executive experience, and at least five years in a senior finance position;
  • CA qualified with comprehensive understanding of accounting systems and processes;
  • Superior people skills and people leadership capabilities with high levels of emotional intelligence;
  • Strong financial/commercial acumen;
  • Highly numerate;
  • Technologically literate with strong analytical skills;
  • Able to communicate with authority and confidence; and to influence at all organisational levels;
  • Strategic strengths, with the ability to problem solve and identify opportunities;
  • Able to cope with complexity and the management of multiple projects;
  • Proactive and able to work autonomously;
  • Calm under pressure and solutionsfocused in times of challenge;
  • Superior judgement skills;
  • An understanding of charitable/educational environments and commercial property would be beneficial.
