Our 2025 Sustainability Plan is endorsed at an Executive level and you will partner with diverse and supportive colleagues from across Countdown to achieve our goals, from Own Brand product developers to refrigerant engineers, wellbeing leads to insights and analytics experts.

**About the Role | Mō te Tūranga

Reporting to the Sustainability Lead - Transformation and Delivery, this role will support the achievement of our 2025 Sustainability Plan.

Specifically, this will include a focus on advising and engaging teams, operationalising and executing plans to achieve our sustainability commitments and supporting the sustainability team to achieve success across its programme of work.


Core responsibilities include:

  • Support the Sustainability Lead to develop and embed best practice delivery artefacts and rhythms that operationalise these sustainability work streams within a delivery excellence framework.
  • Provision and delivery of data and reporting to develop business cases, assess project impacts, track progress (including 2025 Sustainability Plan commitments)
  • Developing sustainability content for internal communications
  • Working alongside the wider sustainability team to accelerate progress on priority focus areas Provides support and leansin to key strategic projects if and when required to ensure momentum and delivery (e.g. Soft Plastics Recycling)
**About You | Mōu
This position requires a strong all-rounder with a mix of project, analytical and interpersonal skills. You will be able to establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.


Your experience will likely reflect:

  • A Degree qualification (or equivalent experience), 12 years experience in sustainability/environmental roles OR business roles (e.g. strategy/consulting/finance/legal/brand) with a strong passion and interest in sustainability.
  • Experience working in high pressure environments and managing multiple priorities
  • A commitment to relationship building, a valuesled, respectful and collaborative approach
  • Familiarity/working knowledge of the regulatory settings in Aotearoa New Zealand related to sustainability
  • Familiarity with academic, government and NGOs active in the sustainability space in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Consumer market experience and retail experience Experience with Agile models of delivery
