    About the role

    Join Tiaki Engineering Consultants, a multidisciplinary Tauranga consultancy delivering award-winning bridge and civil infrastructure across New Zealand.


    We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead and review the design of bridges, civil, and building structures.

    The ideal candidate will have strong recent experience in the design of road, rail, and pedestrian bridges.


    You will manage projects from concept through to construction, ensuring designs are safe, constructable, and compliant with relevant New Zealand and Australian codes and standards, including the NZTA Bridge Manual and KiwiRail Design Standards.

    Key responsibilities
    Lead and review the design of bridges, civil, and building structures.
    Deliver designs from concept through to detailed design and construction.
    Conduct seismic and structural assessments, strengthening, and retrofit solutions.
    Liaise with clients, councils, and contractors to ensure smooth project delivery.
    Carry out PS2 design reviews and contribute to design assurance processes.
    Provide technical support to MSQA and construction monitoring staff.

    Skills and experience
    Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng NZ) or equivalent, or working toward registration.
    Proven experience in bridge and structural design under NZTA Bridge Manual, NZS and AS standards.
    Strong understanding of design compliance, constructability, and quality management.
    Proficiency in analysis tools (STAAD Pro, Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis, Prokon, or equivalent).
    Excellent communication and documentation skills with a collaborative approach.
