We're looking for a unicorn A trade qualified, self-motivated engineer with both machining and fabrication skills combined with a can-do attitude.

Are you the one?


Our work involves the manufacture of research and teaching equipment where you will have the chance to use your skills to build and develop prototype engineering and scientific equipment.

Working with mínimal supervision or as part of a team you will find the work rewarding, interesting, and varied. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of materials and machinery.

Sound design skills and the ability to problem solve will allow you to develop unique solutions to some of the challenges you will face.

This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week, permanent role. The salary range for this role is $66,600 - $87,500 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

Good computer literacy is also essential. We have a well-equipped modern workshop with excellent working conditions and strong workplace Health and Safety compliance.

You will also meet the criteria below:

  • Trade certificate in Fitting, Machining or Toolmaking or equivalent.
  • Tertiary qualification or relevant experience.
  • At least 4 years' experience in a specialist manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in resolving difficult technical issues.
  • The ability to fabricate complex components using Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG), Metal Inert Gas (MIG) and gas welding processes.
  • Advanced cutting tool knowledge and understanding.
  • High level of practical skills to operate machine tools and computer
- controlled machinery.

  • The ability to programme, set and operate complex multi axis CNC machine centres, lathes and router.
