Location

The port city of Timaru is located on the South Island about 157 kilometres from Christchurch and 196 kilometres from Dunedin and is part of the southern Canterbury region .

This city has about inhabitants and is located on the main highway on the South Island and has a small airport for mainly domestic flights to, for example, the international airport of Wellington.

It is located in a beautiful area where many outdoor activities can be practiced such as skiing, hiking and swimming.

The region has a dry oceanic climate with high temperatures in the summer and low temperatures in the winter.
The position is offered by a small hospital in Timaru. It is the only hospital between Dunedin and Christchurch and provides both inpatient and outpatient care. The hospital offers, among other things, 24/7 acute medical, surgical and maternity care. In addition, tertiary care is provided by visiting doctors from the region. The Gynaecology department is supported by 4 gynaecologists. In addition, the department is currently undergoing renovations. After these renovations, the department will have access to various modern equipment and a larger ward.

On behalf of this hospital we are looking for a gynaecologist for a full-time position for the minimum duration of 1 year.

The successful candidate will find a significant professional challenge in the varied range of duties and patient population he/she will handle.

One will not only treat gynaecology casuistry but will also be involved with secondary obstetric care. In addition, there is a schedule on an on-call basis of 1: 4. Part of the duties will consist of guiding and teaching medical personnel. Lastly, there is an attractive work/life ratio.
For this position, candidates must have excellent social, administrative communication and organizational skills. Preferably, candidates are sought who have broad clinical knowledge.
