This full time role based in our Richmond office is a great opportunity for a team player who is looking to extend their knowledge.

Reporting to the Team Leader - Democracy Services, this is a critical role where you will provide proactive, professional governance support to Council Committee and Community Board meetings by advising on correct process and procedures.

You will be responsible for creating agendas, taking minutes, after meetings actions and record keeping and on occasion writing reports.


You will provide advice and guidance to staff attending or writing reports for Council and Committee meetings, hearings and Community Board meetings.


You'll also provide support for a wide range of governance related activities, and projects such as assisting with local election processes.


You'll be someone who:


As a 'professional extraordinaire' you'll bring your exceptional organisational skills, ability to deliver against statutory deadlines, and have a good understanding of the wide-ranging spectrum of Council activities.

You'll be someone who takes ownership of your work, can multi-task and is an engaging, friendly and collaborative teammate. Advanced experience of Microsoft 365 Office Suite and being technically savvy is a must.


Ideally, you have previously worked in government (either local or central) or in a governance or committee or board secretary capacity.

A working knowledge of the legislation surrounding the Local Government Act and the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act or similar experience would be beneficial.
