This is a key role in Mott MacDonald's New Zealand Energy business, growing and leading our Transmission & Distribution team with inputs into our national Energy strategy and delivery.

We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer - Transmission Lines to join either our Wellington, Auckland or Christchurch office working on a range of transmission and distribution projects across Australia and New Zealand.- The role.


What you will do:

  • As a Principal Electrical Engineer within our Energy team, your key responsibilities will include providing technical leadership and support in delivering solutions to clients in the overhead transmission & distribution market and support on generation and the industrial HV sector.
  • Your role will be crucial in providing expert advice and technical leadership to the team across all related areas in transmission line design including route selection, line profile, sag tension calculations and constructability issues. driving and supporting the implementation of effective project control practices to achieve project goals efficiently. You will be responsible for leading and supporting client presentations and other interactions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices and supporting and giving direction to our junior members of the team to help grow the transmission lines business in ANZ.Furthermore, your expertise will be sought to provide technical support to the Client's operations (when required) suggesting improvements and upgrades and promoting innovation, safety and sustainability.
  • About You:
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with a proven track record of working on large transmission projects, with sound knowledge of the life cycle of Transmission lines from planning through to construction, operation and maintenance. Advanced communication skills, attention to detail, strong analytical skills and stakeholder management are necessary for effective performance in this role.
