We are seeking registrars in general medicine for positions available this year in a regional general hospital with FRACP accredited internal medicine department.

These posts are open to junior doctors looking for basic FRACP training roles as well as those looking for experience in non accredited roles.

You will have access to excellent, structured education sessions delivered by consultants with 3 hours dedicated time per week.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clinical
  • Attendance at handover meetings, ward rounds, outpatient clinics, ward meetings, case discussions. Attend and assist at consultant's outpatient clinics. Assess where appropriate, acute and arranged medical admissions/referrals under the care of the team to which you are attached.


  • Acute Duties

  • Two Registrars daily participate in the Medical A and B call rosters, taking responsibility for attending "cardiac arrest" call when rostered to that duty. Assessment of medical problems in the Emergency Department or other hospital departments


  • Education

  • Attend a total of 3 hours protected training time per week, inclusive of the designated training sessions and attend the designated training sessions and the Physicians' Grand Rounds and Post Graduate meeting.


  • Clinical
Audit

  • Participate in clinical audit activities
  • Teaching take an active role in teaching sessions for House Officers, nurses, medical colleagues and other staff.

Role Requirements

  • Medical Degree
  • Eligibility for Medical Council of New Zealand registration under the general pathway
  • A minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience including internship or foundation training with at least 6 months experience in general medicine.

Remuneration

  • Salary $113,000 $164,000 annually DOE
  • 6 weeks paid annual leave
  • Structured education programme
