About the role:


Selwyn is growing and developing at a rapid pace; with a large rural area spanning the high country to the plains, as well as fast urban growth, this role offers a huge variety of planning work covering a range of issues.


  • Prepare and present evidence as an expert witness as required. Undertake research in support of planning related appeals or proceedings.
  • Deliver planning input to Land Information Memoranda and Building Consent processes.
  • Liaise with other Council teams to provide feedback and support on plan changes, policy formulation, plan effectiveness monitoring, resource consent monitoring, and compliance and enforcement matters.

About you:


As an experienced Resource Management Planner, you will hold a tertiary qualification in Urban/Regional Planning, Resource Management or a related discipline which is recognised by the NZPI.


You will also have:

  • Practical experience in planning or resource management
  • High organisational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent digital literacy
  • Great verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
