We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team.
In this critical role, you will play a key part in providing financial leadership in executing strategic and financial objectives for large, complex organisations with large budgets.
As an organisation, The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet's ( DPMC's) isa mid-sized agency of 10business units based in Wellington. The role sits within the
Organisation Direction and Development
team under the Strategy, Governance and Engagement Group ( SGE
) and is one of the business units that supports DPMC to achieve its strategic direction, accountability requirements, organisational planning and performance, organisation development and culture.
The Strategic Management and Financial Accounting Lead (SMFA Lead) provides in-house strategic advice and services to DPMC on a range of financial management issues, processes and change activities, to achieve a step-change in fiscal maturity and management.
This includes successful delivery of savings initiatives, swift resolution of financial issues relating to transition of functions, assessment and advice on corporate services, costings and methodologies for funding and cost-attribution of services to assist in right-sizing DPMC's operating model and corporate centre.
The SMFA Lead works collaboratively with DPMC's ELT, budget holders and CASS to achieve the organisations' objectives.For a more detailed description, click through to the JD attached.

To be successful in this role we're looking for a capable individual with previous experience in a similar role within the public sector
Essential demonstrated capabilities include:
Significant experience providing financial leadership in executing strategic and financial objectives for large, complex organisations with large budgets
Proven success in a senior management role at the executive level, including strategic/people leadership and management
Significant experience in developing finance functions and driving complex change programmes
Experience in government accounting
Significant experience developing financial and performance management frameworks and reporting mechanisms
Significant experience in leading strategic stakeholder management, and government support functions
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a national security clearance at Confidential level or higher.
