About Dominic Pryce:
I am a Registered Architect with 19 years’ experience post registration and over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry . I have full filled the traditional roles of Architect (acting as project manager), Employers Agent, Principal Agent, and Principal Consultant on multiple projects over the last 20 years in the UK and South Africa. I enjoy all aspects of the design and construction process, and am responsible for successfully delivering full projects from inception to occupation on commercial, community, retail, educational, healthcare and residential schemes. I’m registered as an Architect with the New Zealand Registered Architects Board (NZRAB). I have experience in designing and managing complex projects, managing project teams, and working with stakeholders at all levels throughout the life cycle of the project.
Experience
I have worked in the UK and South Africa prior to relocating to New Zealand in the past few months. I have over 25 years of experience in the construction industry/ Built Environment both in South Africa and the United Kingdom working with Government Organizations (Local & Central), Professional Development Teams, Private Developers, Construction Partners, Contractors, Communities, Housing Associations, Charities, Registered Social Landlords (RSL’s), and Disadvantaged Marginalized Groups.
Throughout my career as a Registered Architect I’ve lead, managed and coordinated multiple professional project teams, stakeholders and public consultations to successfully deliver projects for my clients on time and within budget.
In the UK I worked for and became a partner of a multi-disciplinary practice (Playle & Partners LLP 2023-2016) where I full filled the traditional role of an Architect on many government and local authority projects. I have also worked directly as employer’s agent for a housing charity “Transform Housing & Development Trust” representing the charity during the appointment of professional teams and the management of construction projects on the client’s behalf and perspective.
I have strong interpersonal skills and have engaged and built many relationships with fellow professionals, clients and end users on all the projects I have lead and managed.
An example of this is a project I designed and lead called Phoenix Youth Center (please refer to CV) that won the national award for “Partnership Working” at the Planning and Placemaking Awards 2016 in the UK. The project involved sensitive collaboration and workshops with Council representatives and departments, youth workers and disadvantaged youth, social careers and a full professional team to provide a safe environment for young people to use while not in the family home.
In South Africa I worked for several award winning practices on multiple government projects (Community, Healthcare, Housing, Civil and public environment upgrades) and projects for private sector clients (Commercial, Retail, Private Housing and Low Cost Housing) where, as the lead architect I was appointed and undertook the role of either Principal Consultant (work stages 1-4) and then Principal Agent (work stages 5-7). In South Africa these roles are appointed when the project lead who coordinates the professional team, and is responsible for the scheme is either an Architect or a Project Manager.
