We are on the lookout for a Communications Manager to continue leading us into the future.
We have made some amazing progress in this space over the past year, proactively addressing our community needs, engaging with them on important decisions, informing our staff and responding when things go wrong.
We want you to continue advancing us in these areas.You'll be responsible for leading the communications functions of our Council.
This includes; managing communications workflow, relationships with other staff and elected members, creating and implementing high-level communications strategies, responding to risks and managing projects to deliver key information to our community, the media and other stakeholders.
This is a role that requires both strategic thinking, and operational know-how. The Communications Manager will also support and undertake Civil Defence Emergency Management responsibilities when required.This is a fulltime permanent position based in
Marton , however travel throughout the district will be required. the salary range for this role is $81,500 - $96,000.

Provide leadership, mentoring and direction to the Communications Team
Develop, lead and report on Council's overarching Communication and Marketing Strategic Plan
Provide expert advice on communicating and engaging with the public, stakeholders and the media to the Mayor, Councillors and staff
Lead and support projects, initiatives, and information campaigns
Develop and implement community engagement and consultation opportunities
Review LGOIMA responses from a communications/ reputational management perspective
Support Council's commitment to increasing the integration of te ao Māori in communications and engagement activities.
Ko wai to Pukeka| What you will bring
A tertiary qualification in Communications or related discipline or equivalent experience (ideally 5 years+ communications experience)
Experience in a leadership role including people management
Experience in crisis communications management
Proficient in a range of social media platforms and website tools
